I have Windows 2000 Pro and suddenly the programs are not responding like they normally would, e.g opening and closing slowly. The screen saver hesistates for 10-20 seconds before closing, and sometimes it freezes. IE and Netscape are very slow. It has been using PC trend micro for Internet Security and virus protection, and it says there are no viruses. Adware is updated with no problems detected. And sypbot has been udpated with nothing strange.

The problem seem to just arrive out of the blue. Can anyone help???

check your process list (Task manager) and sort via the CPU column. see if you see any processes taking up an abornal amount of CPU.. (SYSTEM IDLE PROCESS should be floating around 98% - that is normal).

CPU is running at 100% with me checking all that you have mentioned. Nothing extraordinary is going on. Can you help? Everything looks normal.
