    Please help!
My hardrive bit the dust and I installed a new 160gig Maxtor HD into a HP Pavilion. I ran the setup utility with the HD and then proceded on to the Windows 2000 Pro install. I ran the four installation disks and then installed the CDrom. When the computer boots after install of the CDrom it goes to the Windows 2000 setup screen and then I get the following error message:

D:\I386\NT5INF.CAT catlog could not be found. The error code is 45d. This is a fatal error.

I've used the CD before with no problems, what's up. Can you please help.

Is there any dust or marking on the CD? Try cleaning the CD or using a different CD drive. Can you access the file on a working machine?

Thanks for the quick responce. I looked on the CD and there doesn't appear to be any markings, however it looks to be a little scratched. I copied the entire disk to another CD successfully. I then tried to install and again I get the same message. I ready to toss the whole thing.

    You could also try:

    copy d:\i386\*.* nul

That will basically check all the files in that directory to look for file system errors.
