I have been googling how to lower the brightness on my desktop but the directions do not seem to fit with my build.
According to my updated build how can I lower the brightness on my Dell monitor at the pc?
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti =my GPU

I am leery of adjusting the monitor itself but will try if that is the way. I find it hard to believe there is no way at the pc to do this.

It's usually done with the function keys, look for a brightness icon. On this Thinkpad it's F7 and F8

On my Logitech keyboard K520 I pressed the FN key at the bottom an tried it with all the keys across the top with symbols and nothing changed the brightness.
I did try t the monitor but it was confusing and I ended up with auto bright.
Is there a special key that indicates brightness?
I saw in my Google search that Windows 10 used to have a slider for brightness and wonder if it is gone with this current update.
I have an Nvidia GTX GE 1150TI card but it seems the integrated card takes over in Windows 10 from what I have read. That must be wrong or why would anyone buy a decent card.

Have you tried it without pressing Fn first?

    I don’t see a brightness button

I’ll try all buttons without pressing F in first

I was going to suggest that.

Right click the desktop and choose display settings. Should give you a panel to adjust the brightness slider.

@Earthling - I tried the buttons without anything else to no avail.

@TimW - Please se the attachment of the page you requested. On the right it says brightness adjustments but when it goes there the directions are of another build. and not applicable. Nothing on this page applies that I can see. It is hard to imagine brightness cannot be changed on Windows 10.

It seems that 'non-laptops', ie desktops with a separate screen, may not display the slider TimW talks about, and in that case to use the buttons on the monitor. It's all in the brightness link on the right in your pic. I checked my own desktop and that's how it is. Study the link.

I think there are two options and I am choosing the latter. I could use the settings on the side of the monitor or I could use night light settings. The latter seems to cut down on blue light which dims/yellows the screen a bit but is easier on my eyes and is not a problem. Thanks all for your help and I hope this helps some one following me.

I am sorry to amend late but I did lower the brightness using the buttons on the monitor and also use night light which is much easier on the eyes.

The link is called 'Changing screen brightness' on the right side of the screenshot you posted.

Yes I did see that that’s the one I said when I got there the directions did not allow me to lower the brightness it must’ve been made for a laptop as you say
