    Hi

Apologies for first post straight in

I did use the search but I have to be honest my understanding of the tech speak meant I had trouble finding the issue so to the regulars apologies.

I recently bought a new toshiba with windows 7, it was set up on 32 bit.

I had to travel 2 days after so took my old battered but ok working laptop but when i came back home my daughter said....dad your computer don't work.

the first part my fault...2 days old and i didn't make a recovery cd

it then turns out whilst I was away my daughter, bless her, fiddled with it and selected the 64 bit option and now due to conflicts with flash media I cannot get a single view of any videos, I've tried system restore to no avail.

I tried flash player updates and windows updates but flash offers no system compatable with 64

i tried to restore to factory settings but it's insisting of the recovery cd that I hadn't had time to make

so my question is...can i return it back to 32 bit so i can start watching videos again and use it as it was supposed to be

    again sorry about the question

I don't quite understand "changing it to 64 bit":confused Was this a change she made in the flash player?
    As far as the system gos;

    1. Restart the computer.

    2. Repeatedly tap the F8 key until you see the Advanced Boot Option Screen.

    3. Select Repair Your Computerand hit Enter.

    4. Select your country >> OK.

    5. On the System Recovery Options Screen select Restore Application.

    6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

    8. When prompted, select on "Full Factory Recovery"

    9. Select Next >> Yes.

    10. After a couple of minutes the recovery will be completed.

    You should have that. :wave

    Hi

If you are watching Flash videos online then you "will" need to run the 32bit version of IE8 in Windows 7 as Adobe do not have a version of 64bit Flash available at this time, sadly they are dragging their heals on this as most folk are going to 64bit these days.

32bit IE is available in Win7 by just typing Internet into the Start Search and you will get two options Internet Explorer (which is the 32bit version) and Internet Explorer 64-bit (which is well the 64bit version)

But if you are not watching the videos online please do tell us what software package you are using to re-play these flash videos

    hi Halo

I just tried that but when i saw the two internet options not one was identified as 32 or 64 bit

I only watch online videos so thats where my problem is

    Hi brandy thank you

turns out after much cohersion my daughter says it went like this

the ie shortcut on the main screen dissapeared so my daughter went into all programmes saw a ie 64 bit icon clicked it and since then we have not been able to watch any online videos

when the message"you need to update flash player" comes on we click the link...but nothing

thats why i need to return it to 32 bit to use the laptop fully again

    Following on Halo's comments, maybe this helps;

The executable for IE8 32-bit is located here:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

The executable for IE8 64-bit is located here:

    C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

Then you could right click on the first one and send a shortcut to the desktop.

    Thank you both

I didn't want to be one of those newbies that asks a question then never says what happened and never come back...thats rude

I did the f11 tap and wiped it back to the factory settings from new and so it resumed the 32 bit and so far no problems and I can watch video's again

    again thanks all
