Windows 7 64 bit for samsung lasers

I have just rebuilt my computer and all went well apart from the printer side .I am having trouble with the drivers for Windows 7 64 bit.The two printers are a Samsung SCX-4200 ( i have managed to get the printer side only going by using the Samsung universal driver ) but cannot get the scanner and copier part to load correctly (which is called Smartthru4) . The other printer is a network based printer called Samsung CLP-300N( i have managed to get it printing from this computer but sometimes it prints nothing and other prints come out with characters in blue and a bit fuzzy ).I then tried it from my wireless laptop and it printed fine , sharp and correct colours , so its obviously the driver ,the laptop is XP based whereas my main computer where the trouble is Windows 7 . i have tried all variations with both printers and am getting very frustrated .PLEASE HELP:-D

 

Where did you get the Win 7 drivers - were there installation disks, or are these downloads? If so, from Microsoft or from Samsung?

One thing you might try is to load Vista drivers if Win 7 drivers are unavailable.

Also, make sure the drivers match the 32-bit or 64-bit OS architecture.

 

I have tried samsung and virtually every other site , they either say not for this operating system or install and then print incorrect characters.This machine has printed to the printer before and worked fine but cannot find the correct drivers now

Hello,
As for the scanning\copier app, you may need to contact Samsung and see if they have updated the software.

As, for the drivers, they are available.
Download the ones for your 64 bit OS:

SCX-4200 Multi Function Printer
Windows Update catalog SCX-4200
Windows Update Catalog samsung CLP-300

You will, probably, need to use MS Internet Explorer for the Windows Update Catalog site, as it does not like others.

First, download the needed files.
Next, dis-connected the devices(printers)
Then, go to device manager and right click on the devices(you may need to look in the device manager menu and check(click on)"show hidden devices) and choose uninstall (be sure to check the box for the removal of the driver\software)
Re-start(do not plug the devices in, until last)
After the re-start, install the downloaded drivers you have chosen to use.
Now, plug in the devices one-at-a-time. Let Windows discover it and do the same with the next printer.
And, test...

I have now managed to get the Smarthtru4 working by samsung directing me to another part of the website ,the scx-4200 now seems sorted .The network printer i must admit i have now cheated ,it was close enough to the computer that was having problems for me to put a USB cable in and run it that way , and the network part works as well at the same time (normally one puts the other out ) .I loaded the local drivers for that computer and now all seems well .
I have followed your advice and downloaded for another time (when i have more time ) .
