Hello, I am hoping someone can help me. I am not sure what has caused this problem and I'll try to explain the best I can.

When I try to open any program on my PC (even using the open with admin option) I get the 'thinking wheel' but nothing happens, I first thought it was just a Windows Media Player problem, because that's when I first noticed it a few weeks ago, then I tried to open Windows Photo Viewer yesterday and that also is now not responding. I have tried opening many programs and games today and the only things now working on my PC are the internet browsing and my documents folders. So to take a wild guess, either something is corrupt on my C drive or something has gone wrong with the .exe files? (Maybe that's the same thing?) I am using Windows 7, 64 bit, SP1.

What I have done to try and fix this:

    • Windows Defender. (Full computer scan.)
    • CCleaner. (Scanned with the cleaner and also scanned the Registry.)
    • Google various reasons why it won't work.
    • System Restore. (Only allowed to restore to the 7th July 2018 so it hasn't fixed anything since I've had this problem for a while.
    • Tweaking.com Windows Repair.
    • Followed the instructions in this similar thread: https://forums.majorgeeks.com/threads/corrupted-exe-file.234051/ (The only section I did not complete here was the exeHelper as I get a 'timed out' error when it tries to load the link/web page.)
    • Rkill. (I can't remember details but I shall include the log.)
    • Malwarebytes Anti Malware. (Found 1 threat attached in Chrome.)
    • SUPERantispyware. (Found 1 Trojan inside a .exe file of a game that I have not played for years.)
    • MGtools (I completed it but no idea if it found anything..I don't understand code.)
I hope that I have given you enough information to work with, I have attached some log txt files too and hopefully somebody can figure out what's 'broken.'

Thank you for your time and I look forward to your response. :)

I also just did the Adwcleaner since I've seen you ask others to do it. Now I'll await your response and stop trying other things.

    Please remove these from ADWCleaner:
    ***** [ Registry ] *****

    Adware.Elex HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\POLICIES\EXPLORER|ENABLESHELLEXECUTEHOOKS
    Adware.Elex HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\POLICIES\EXPLORER|ENABLESHELLEXECUTEHOOKS

    Now remove these in SAS:
    Trojan.Agent/Gen-Qudamah
    C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\HOSPITAL HUSTLE\HOSPITAL HUSTLE.EXE

    And this in MBAM:
    File: 1
    PUP.Optional.Reimage, C:\USERS\KIM\APPDATA\LOCAL\GOOGLE\CHROME\USER DATA\DEFAULT\PREFERENCES, Replaced, [1363], [541062],1.0.5907

Reboot and rescan with ADW, MBAM and please run and attach the logs from RogueKiller and Hitman!!

Your logs are clean. What malware issues are you still having?

    Let's try something else:
Please download ComboFix to your desktop. Turn off any AV software you have before you run it. Attach the log when finished. Do not do anything while it is running or it may stall the program.

Good morning Tim, and thank you for your continued help. I have the attached log for ComboFix.

    Still nothing is opening.

I'm so embarrassed...I broke my registry. I didn't understand the instructions on that link and I closed it by accident instead of minimize as I wanted to ask for more help and it wouldn't reopen so I clicked to open in another programme like it suggested and now everything is connected to wordpad and my pc shut down and rebooted itself. I don't know how to reset it as everything opens wordpad. I feel like an idiot. I'm sorry.

There were no instructions to open in another program. If you opened regedit, did you make any changes? Can you open it again?

I was renaming the things like in the instructions to the link but I got stuck so as I went to minimise it I closed by accident and it wouldn'tr re open. So a box came up and said do you want to open using another programme and now everything open into notepad even chrome. Because my pc rebooted itself. I'm having to use my mobile atm.

Since this is clearly not a malware issue, I suggest that you post in the software forum for additional assistance.
This is not within the scope of the malware forum. :(
