I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate. When I put in the product key it tells me I did an upgrade. But I really did a clean install. After 2 hours with microsoft they tell me I must have purchased an upgrade disc and not a complete disc. I am now in a different city. Is there any way to get this activated without purchasing a new Windows 7 CD?

    Hi

I would contact them again and likely you will get someone different who will help you as they should be able to tell what DVD disk version of Windows 7 you have from the SKU number or product number on the Disk/Box or even the codes off the COA label should help them ID your version.

Thank you very much. Glad to hear things are working and that your money is still in your wallet. :)

To be honest, I love Windows 7, but the whole upgrade clean install restriction is such a pain in the booty. rolleyes
