I have MalwareBytes AntiMalware installed and every time I turn the computer on, my screen fades black and I receive a pop up requiring an answer...

    "User Account Control"
"Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to the computer?"
    "MalwareBytes"

This is a new computer with Windows 7 preinstalled.
I installed the MalwareBytes program yesterday, updated and scanned. The computer has been rebooted several times while I start personalizing it, I don't understand why or how to get rid of this pop up?

    Thanks
    :)

I have the following programs installed...
    MalwareBytes AntiMalware
    SuperAntiSpyware
Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool
    SpywareBlaster

    Avast Antivirus
    PC Tools Firewall

UAC will always ask when something wants to make changes, so you can safely answer "OK". I have Win7 also, and the full version of MalwareBytes, and I don't get that UAC warning when I boot up. I get it on other things (like when installing MBAM updates), but not on booting up. As to how to stop it, I think the only way is to turn off the UAC completely, or you can try turning it down a notch. Go to the Control Panel and click the top link in the "User Account Security" section (it might be called something else, but I think I'm close) and try different settings. Unfortunately, UAC does not have an exceptions list (I wish it did!!) so it will always flag certain things.

The funny thing is, I've been clicking on "ok" every time and I still get this pop up, lol. I'm sorry, I didn't mention that in my post.

I'll try turning it down a notch.

    Thank you.

Thanks, I found the notch thingy, lol, but it says that if I turn it down 1 notch it just turns off the "dimming" effect.
The next notch down is the last which turns off notification.

    Not sure what to do?

The 'dimming effect' means that your screen won't go dark, but I think it also brings the UAC protection level down a little (I could be wrong). I have my UAC set at this level and I don't get a MBAM window upon booting, but I do get one for RivaTuner (it's a video card 'tweaking' program). I simply click 'OK' and I don't see it again until I restart. Since I'm no expert in UAC, I can't offer too much advice, but I think you'll have to click "OK" each time you start up. I'm not sure why you have a UAC window for MBAM and I don't. Different PCs do different things even though circumstances may be the same. You can completely disable UAC, and if you have good security apps installed for virus/malware protection, then you will probably be OK, but try turning it down a notch and reboot, and see if anything has changed other than the screen not going dark.... let us know what happens!

    Hi

Are you using a limited/Standard user account or an admin account in Win7?

Is this the free or paid for version of MalwareBytes? if paid then it maybe automatically checking for updates at each boot, hence the UAC alert, in the main this will need an update from the makers to get around this issue, but likely it wont as its a security feature to stop applications updating specific parts of the OS.

Ypu could try to make Malwarebytes run in admin mode by rigth clicking the shortcut or exe and then properties > compatability and tick the Run as Admin box

    Hi!
I recently bought the computer from Best Buy, they set it up for me. I'm not sure about the user account? How may I find this out?

I have the free version of MalwareBytes.

I have the same problem with the laptop I bought for my wife.

She has Win 7 home premium 64 bit.

That is very stupid that there is no check box saying "do not show this again" or maybe something like "remember this choice". I'm sick of this popping up every time the pc boots but I've been all over google and the only fix I found was for Vista 32bit here.

I no longer get the alert window, dunno how I done did it, lol, but here's the only 2 things that I can think of that I tinkered with...

    1.
Uninstalled MBAM. Ran CCleaner. Reinstalled MBAM directly from their website.
    Ran CCleaner.

    2.
Changed my network thingy from "Home" to "Public". (Using one computer at home, not sharing any files).
    Ran CCleaner.

As for running other programs, such as CCleaner, I still have to click on their alert window. But at least I don't encounter this MBAM alert everytime I turn the computer on. Just a minor annoyance if it didn't go away.

I really don't know what happened, but thought that I'd share this with ya. Someone may know.
