    Hi!
Ok... so I was installing Windows 7 in my Sony Vaio and I did not notice it wasn't plugged in (and it doesn't have the greatest battery life) and it was on the last step (completing setup) when it shut off! Now when I try to run the CD again it turns to the blue screen that says "unmountable_boot_volume". :cry I have tried to boot it in safe mode (and in all other options) but I still get the blue screen. I have been trying to look stuff up on the internet but have got nothing. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue!? :confused I would greatly appreciate it!

    Thanks!

You need to do a clean format and installation of windows. No other way to resolve the issue.

    Hello again,
How would I go about doing this I have misplaced my other disks for my computer and only have my installation CD. I have no clue how to do a hard format I have tried to look it up on the internet but have been unsuccessful. Please if you have any suggestions or if you know of a site i could download a format CD from I could burn a bootable CD just don't know what site or what kind i should be burning. I did download a format boot disk but it was a fat32 if that makes sense and I would need a NTFS one?? I really don't know if thats right i just comprehended it from reading about it. Any suggestions please get back to me thanks!!!

You just need to do the installation all over again. Set the bios to have the cd/dvd as first boot device, put in your Win7 disc and reboot. Make sure the computer is plugged in this time.

I have tried that unfortunately and have gotten just a black screen and it doesn't proceed. I have waited probably 30 minutes on that black screen and it did nothing. I don't know if my computer is so messed up nothing will help it or what :(

You set the bios to have the CD/DVD as the first boot device? Saved the settings and rebooted with the install disc in the drive? And you don't get a message to press any key to boot to cd?

Yes I have done that and pressed "any button to boot from cd" and it loaded but after the starting windows icon came up i stayed on this black screen. I tried it probably 6 times but it never advanced to the installation.

Is the hard drive recognized in the bios?

Just boot to the bios and it should be listed on the first page.

The First tab in the Bios is layed out like this:

    Bios version: R0130J9
    machine name: vgn...
    serial num: 2........
    uuid: .......
    system mem: 1024 MB ?????
hard disk drive : 160 GB
    sys date
    sys time

    thats all it has

Do you have a link to the format disk you downloaded? I guess it is possible the partial setup of Windows on the HD is interfering with the Windows installation disc from loading. Since you can't do anything as it is, you could use the format utility you have, to format to FAT32. See if the installation CD boots properly and then let the Windows CD format to NTFS and install Win7.

Or Partition Wizard has a bootable CD that will let you delete and create and format partitions. The download link is halfway down the page. http://www.partitionwizard.com/partition-wizard-bootable-cd.html

Well I just made a disc from the website you gave me below and deleted all partitions which completely wiped out everything. Then I reinstalled my operating system and it runs like new!! Thanks everyone!
