Windows 7 and Internet

Hi everyone. I am having the weirdest problem. Running Windows 7 connected to a Linksys Router which is connected to a UVERSE gateway router. Whenever I boot up I have NO internet. However if I go into CMD and type ipconfig/renew everything works great. Then sometimes the internet will go away and I will have to retype ipconfig/renew. I have IP/DHCP set to auto in settings. If I set the IP address and DHCP to a manually entered number everything works great but that isn't how it should be.

FYI everything worked fine for years under Windows XP. Any suggestions?

    Here is my ipconfig/all:

this is just what I believe is happening.

Linksys routers are infamous for locking up (causing the internet to stop). The user would then have to unplug and plug in the router, effictively causing it to restart. I believe you are accomplishing the same thing by using ipconfig /renew.

I think your Linksys router is showing its age and poor quality. I would ask to borrow a friends router and see if that fixes your problem. If it does, buy a Netgear or ASUS.

I would agree with that however I have a second computer plugged into the exact same router but running Windows XP and it is showing none of these issues. It works 100% of the time...

I would suggest dial-a-fix, but it is old and I doubt it runs on Win7. Have you installed all Windows updates?

You can play around with dial-a-fix and see if it does anything for you. Be sure to back up all documents before using it. It is an amazing effective tool for internet related problems, but running it on a new OS is risky.

If I find another tool that may help, I'll bring it up.

I suppose it could be malware also. Malwarebytes is the best program for detecting malware, and it is not an active scanner so it should not interfere with any anti-virus you already have. (always good to get two scanners for potential malware problems)

If it detects anything, this probably belongs in the malware removal forum.
