Windows 7 - can no longer choose screen res higher than 1600 x 900

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 notebook which had been working fine at resolution 1920 x 1080. Power tripped last night & when i turned it on this morning i'm only getting a max resolution of 1600 x 900 but it's displaying as what looks like a lot lower resolution (see attached image).

Any help much appreciated.

When you right click the desktop, and choose "screen resolution", what is the maximum resolution it shows/allows you to choose ?

His subject line says "can no longer choose screen res higher than 1600 x 900" so that is the highest he is able to select.

Did your dv laptop come with a drivers disk? You might have to pull off the chipset driver for video. Or, if you mention everything after dv7, I might be able to find the correct drivers on line. As it stands when I simply put in drivers for pavilion dv7, I get more than 300 product matches.

Problem solved. Had the laptop on for 3 days downloading & forgot I was messing about with Easy of Access settings which became active upon restart.
