    Hello, guys! :) I already installed Windows 7 RC and also a few software on it - Firefox, Mil Shield, Lavasoft Firewall, and 7Zip. They work perfectly on Windows 7 without any errors.

    Did you installed this system and some software too on your PC? Please tell me, what's your news?

  2. I think the only thing that wouldn't work with Windows 7 when I had it was 4oD which no longer exists so who cares haha

    Hehehe , this is funny :) But seriously, there are lots and lots of software that don't work on Windows 7. I'm already convinced this fact.

    Hi

    I agree with DomLuc and many of the apps that work with Vista will work in Windows 7, there will be some popular ones that don't but in the main it's due to the 3rd party developer not adding into the installer the listing for Windows 7 as a supprted OS, found this with a few in apps in the tech preview before the beta was released.

    Just as Dom mentions need to check with developers site if the app is listed for Win7 or if listed as working on Vista, just give it a go, may work and if not use in the compatibility troubleshooter in Action Center a try.

    New OSes do suffer from some update lag and XP was no different, some devs will update current apps quickly, older ones more slowly or not at all.

    Currently I have none of my default favoured apps not working in the RC plus loads if testing of new apps and ones I have blogged about, will try some more apps over the weekend when fresh installing the RTM

    Of course but it will take a little time:

    * FarCry (PC game, I hope that the company will release it soon on Windows 7)
    * Daemon Tool
    * Nero
    * Google Chrome

    I don't agree with the statement that if many programs work on Vista they will work also on Windows 7 because Windows 7 is NOT Vista.

    There are differences between Vista (32bit and 64bit) and Windows 7 (32bit and 64bit) and these differences are visible.

    Now still there are lots of programs that don't work on Vista, not to mention Windows 7.

    Here is more software that is not compatible with Windows 7:
    * C Cleaner
    * Picasa
    * Win DVD
    * Power DVD

    I don't know, I'm not such optimist about the software future because NOW there are so many software-garbage all over the Internet.

    In the same time, some good game companies like Crytek (Far Cry, Crysis) and 2K Boston/2K Australia (BioShock) delay the release of their new products:(

    CCleaner works fine on my sys!!

    Last I checked SuperAntiSpyware was not compatible.
    But as already mentioned, in times to come, the newer releases of apps should conform..

    Cheers...

    On my Windows 7 RC it doesn't work at all.

    Cheers

    I've used 32-bit 7 since January on my main PC and used it for months on my second and my 'backup' laptop.

    FarCry, Daemon Tools and Chrome all work fine for me, check the latest versions of the latter two.
    Ccleaner has worked fine for me since January on 7, I've heard someone whingeing about it not being compatible with 64-bit 7, unable to verify whether that's been a Ccleaner or 64-bit (drivers?) issue.

    Have you tried installing incompatible apps using Compatibility mode?

    At this stage of the Vista roll-out, I was ready to go back to XP (and I did) as each version of the pre-release of Vista seemed to be getting worse. Windows 7's progress has been almost the opposite of that, I'll be happy to move up to the RTM.

    as you can see these apps are working in my Win7 x64 and will likely do in x86, dont know why they are nto working for you, maybe a bad install, what build number are you using of Win7?

    All I can go off is my personal experiences and reading what works or doesnt for others in both forums and in the private beta newsgroup for the Win7 test, not all apps will work and some may take a short while, say until Oct 22nd for some 3rd parties to get their apps updated, some older apps as mentioned earlier may never work but this was same for win95/98 apps in XP.

    I wish mate, but on we soldier, I'm now waiting for Windows 8 techpreview to begin, but thats likely not going to see light for a year or so, but chatter on suggestions did enter the beta on Win7.

    hahahaha on template, you'd think, but no its all fresh new posts and thoughts.

    I'm same as you Satrow, having no issues with CCleaner and works in x64 as thats what I'm using on 3 PCs at present in RC version (RTMs downloading now) and has worked for me since the tech preview.

    Deamon tools, Chrome both work ok for me, not tried FarCry as yet.

    I have both Windows 7 - 32bit and 64bit and I made tests on them at the same time. But I'll check again the latest versions of Daemon Tools, FarCry, and Chrome.

    C Cleaner version 2.22.968 (this is its latest version) - I tested it on both Windows 7 but its installing process does not want start. But anyway I use Mil Shield that work perfectly on both Windows 7, so to me this C Cleaner failure doesn't matter.

    I tried installing all or almost all remarkable programs to see how they work
    on Windows 7. Now I continue with tests and tell you what is going on my computers that have Windows 7.

    Running RTM build 7600 (the final retail release) and all softwares I have used before still work ok.
