Windows 7 Doesn't Remember Folder Settings

I've been having problems with Windows 7 not remembering my folder settings. I have a folder that I had created each file specifically in order so I could sort it by date created(because Windows 7 is a bitch and doesn't let you sort your files manually) and now the files rearrange by name and the view setting sets itself to list view every time I close the folder. It was likely the cause of a virus, as I had a few removed a short while ago and that's around the time it started. I searched around, only found two solutions, both on this forum, one of which was to create a registry file in the Hkey_current_user-software-microsoft-windows-shell folder called "BagMRU Size", but that didn't work. Another was to type regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll into run and it should have a confirmation message, mine says,"The module shdocvw.dll was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found"

Oh and one last thing, it remembers my view settings on another account... But I have a lot of stuff on this account, I doubt it would be easy to move it all over. Thanks in advance.

Do you run a cleanup program like CCleaner?

I believe I used the AVG Cleaner, but that was long before this happened. Or are you suggesting I do a cleanup?

No, I was asking because some cleaners (like CCleaner) remove your folder settings by default.

Oh, yeah I doubt it was that, since it started long after I used any.

Oh, that fixes one annoying feature of Windows 7 lol, but my problem is not caused by Windows 7, it just started recently. Now it doesn't remember view settings or arrangement settings...

Select any folder you want to organize.
Get it the way want it

    Then select:
Organize, Folder Options, View, Apply to Folders

Oh haha, I feel dumb. I tried that too, only I hadn't gotten the folder to my settings first. It works now, thank you.

It used to be easier in XP so it took me a bit to find it myself so don't feel bad :)
