In order for these laptops to access the domain they need to be running xp as W7 is not supported by IT. When booting from network to deploy xp on these laptops I keep getting the return code error 2147467259, config=1. I have removed the minint folder but still getting error. Can anyone help please?

I've run into this on certain HP/Compaq and Lenovo models (tower and desktop).

If the BIOS has an option to restore the OEM operating system it will not recognize older versions of Windows such as XP. Even if this option doesn't show up in the BIOS, certain newer boards won't allow an install of any version of Windows older than the OEM. Both manufacturers' support sites treat this issue as the elephant in the room everybody ignores; even a call to HP tech support ended up with a "recommendation" I keep Win 7 installed "for best results". :heli

If these are new PCs that are still within the retailer's return policy window, I would exchange them for models that ship with an OEM copy of Win 7 Professional with the option for a downgrade to XP specifically noted in the product specs. Since this problem constitutes an error of omission on the part of HP, I would fight tooth and nail against any restock fees.

    Hope this helps.
