Windows 7 Drivers

Hi,
I seem to be having issue with : DataTraveler G3 (Kingston 4GB USB KEY)

The scenario :

- I have previous experience, I usually know what I'm doing or looking for [/I

I have to computer running on Intel Chipsets all the drivers are installed properly, They both run on the same build of windows 7. One is a laptop one is a desktop.

I have tried in vain to get the DataTraveler G3 to recognize so I could issue it a drive and use the key ( on my Desktop ) , I even tried update via Windows Update and it won't find anything.

I looked at forums, driver web sites, even those nasty driver programs, nothing seemed to help.

Took my laptop plugged in the key, and boom, it worked. So I thought I could just copy these drivers to my usb key (one that works), and install them onto the desktop.

Without going to much in details ...
(Properties -> Driver -> Driver Details
disk.sys (listed)
partmgr.sys (listed)
USBSTOR.sys (This one made a difference one so I just took it also but wasn't listed)

I went over to the desktop and tried to copy the files to : C:\Windows\System32\drivers

Fixed the permissions and access to the folder and files (Somehow it would let me even though i'm an administrator $#@% ), manually and gave my self the permission to access.

Copied and overwrote theses files.

It should work. Rebooted the pc.

It still doesn't work. I'm fed up please help me !
By the way kingston's website offers no support.
And I could not find anything on Microsoft's forums either.

Also, when my installation was fresh on windows it used to work, i think. I believe it might have something to do since I installed vMWARE Workstation.

What do you guys think ?
