Windows 7 excessive freezing

Hey,

Just recently built a new desktop, and it does excessive freezing on me when doing anything with video.It has mostly happened when watching YouTube videos, but also when working with video in After Effects or randomly when playing a game. And it makes me force restart it every time, since I'm unable to use anything.I'm not sure what it could be cause i have updated most drivers and i don't think it is the hardware playing up from trying to do some research on the problem, or more i really hope it isn't. I have checked the System event log, but im a little lost on which one the problem could be.There is only one critical error that i have is when i have had to force restart and its source is "Kernel-Power" "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." and along with a bunch or errors and warnings.Any help would be great thanks.

What is the driver version & date of your display adapter?

 

I am thinking heat problem GTX's tend to over heat I have a GTX 550 ti Factory Clocked do you have any thing that can adjust the fans speed if not i would use MSI afterburner to adjust nothing but the fans speed

These cards can create lots of heat even during gaming out online play.

With out my MSI afterburner fan adjustment on my temp stays around 110F

I Haven't overclocked my system so when i click to reset my settings in the MSI afterburner, nothing changes as presumed. Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/adNoU.png

I ran and downloaded that program that you linked me to, but not to sure if any of the readings are not normal, since not to sure on that kind of stuff.Screenshot:http://i.imgur.com/Sz6kN.png , so if anything looks not right, please do tell. When it freezes i do not get the "nVidia driver has stopped working" message, and i probably wont be able to test the card on another computer. I have ran Memtest on the set of ram that i got at least twice, and no errors have showed up. The windows i have is installed of a disc, i just haven't activated it yet, because i got an OEM version, which locked to my last motherboard, which had to get replaced.but i doubt that would be the problem anyways.

you have to run it in normal mode - reboot your machine - running it in safe mode again - reboot your machine - because there is some driver's leftovers from previous nvidia graphic card !! :wave

 

Thanks for the info, i downloaded and installed the older driver, so i shall see if it happens to make any difference, I also took screenshots of both drivers they seem pretty much the same, but i took a screenshot of them too(http://i.imgur.com/KmgkU.png and http://i.imgur.com/YBOxP.png) and i wasn't planning on overclocking, for the reason as you said, that i am not familiar enough to do so.
I put on HWMonitor on again to leave it running, there has been no drastic changes so far, just hovers around the same numbers that was in the previous screenshot.But i shall keep an eye on it, incase it does reach to those temps.


And in regarding to Memtest the first time i let it run it was for about 8hrs, and the second time was somewhere in between 2-3hrs, so im pretty sure my ram is not faulty, which is good and i downloaded the Driver Sweeper program, but not fully sure on what it does,care to elaborate?

 

I installed the chipset drivers again, and soon after im not sure if it was because of the re-installing it, but i get a warning message about my motherboards temp http://i.imgur.com/bvXSg.png not sure what to do?

 

just did a restart and the temp is now at 31C which is better, just got a bit worried for a second cause it came up when i was typing the last message, but yes hopefully after trying the last things that you mentioned the problem will be fixed

 

haha yeah, touche', it would've just been the ASUS suite playing up. And yes i have service pack 1 installed.So far i havent had a freeze yet since i have tried some of the potential fixes, but i cant be sure if it is fully fixed yet, since it does it at random occasions.

 

Yeah I got the service pack pretty much straight away after the install, so if it is that i cant really do much till the update like you said, but so far its been going good, like at the moment i have YouTube videos playing in the background while rendering a video in after effects, so I'm having my fingers crossed.Its also good we can cross out most of the hardware being the problem, cause im still really hoping for it only to be a software thing so i can save some money. I shall keep try those links next if it happens to do it again and thanks heaps for the help so far
