I fax something once a month and have had no problems until last month. I click on "Insert" "pages from Scanner". Never a problem, but now although the scanner runs, when I click SEND, it tells me "Adobe Reader could not open '1CEE.....tif' because it is either not a supported file type or because the files has been damaged..." Then an Adobe window pops up. I click "OK" and close both windows, but then I can't close the fax window (circle thing). After a while it times out and I can finally close the fax window.

I tried scanning the document then attaching as a tiff file (both compressed and uncompressed) instead, but this won't work either. Please help!

"had no problems until last month" is what you said. So the first solution I'd try is a System Restore. See if you have a restore date that is older than one month. Then you should have no more problems. If you need step by step instructions on a System Restore, let me know and I'll send detailed instructions.

I also very rarely have the need to fax, but I found a program that is simple to use.
You might give it a try - https://faxzero.com/ :wave
