I am simply wondering what if any software can survive a complete format? Specifically Windows 7 RC 64BIT.

I ask becuase I used to have 3 partitions on my 320GB HDD, XP home SP3, Windows 7 32BIT & Windows 7 64 Bit. They each had around 100GB partitions but I used EASEUS Partition Master to resize & create the partitions, basically I had alot of random crashes when playing games. They problem I figured was either malicious software or a law of power :confused

To find out I had an old 400W PSU supporting my main 650W PSU taking some of the load, all fans including CPU fan (Zalman CNPS9700 LED), X2 SATAII HDD's & X1 SATA DVD RW. I still had random crashes but less frequently than before, so I decided to format & stick with 1 OS W7 64.

Process of elimination I supose, if the Format didn't get rid of everything I am still at square one LOL, but if it did & I still get random crashes it my PSU right?

Perhaps since you were overclocking maybe something broke?

That ATI card could also be a cause, maybe the card is overheating.
If you had a different video card I'd try swapping and testing.

Since I simply turned the multiplier from X15 to X16 to get 3.2GHz it is impossible to break it, even then the only damage would be heat but my Zalaman CNPS9700 LED keeps my CPU at 40C idle. As far as the ATI card goes it is also overclocked by a fair amount:

    Stock:
    Core Clock: 750MHz
    Memory Clock: 900MHz

    Overclocked:
    Core Clock: 800MHz
    Memory Clock: 1000MHz

But it stays at around 38-42C idle & is rated to run up to 100C max safely.

I am only concerned with malitious software atm, if any has survived a full format then if I get crashes during heavy load I will be back at square one deciding wheather it's software issues or PSU issues :confused

Does anyone think it is nescacary to run the Malware Forums tests? If so how do you do that on W7 64BIT?

C'mon people just 1 simple question, does a format wipe everything or can malitious software of any kind (spyware, adware, viruses, trojans) remain?

I doubt the OS makes a differance a format is a format, but it's Windows 7 RC 64BIT.
