Windows 7 from scratch

    Hello!

My new notebook was accidentally installed with the norwegian version of Windows 7.

The reason (if someone was wondering) is that my dad bought the computer and had to install it before bringing it to me here in Rio. Otherwise customs will think you'll sell the computer, and they'll confiscate it or make you pay taxes.
My dad wasn't able to use the touchpad, slipped...so it's norwegian.

    Illegible.

I made the recovery disk and booted from it, reinstalled etc but it's only possible to change keyboard layout and stuff. The real system language is still norwegian. Oh, and I tried Alt+F10 while booting, too. Same result.

Please tell me if there are ways around this, like fiddling with registry keys, or downloading a "from scratch" recovery disk from somewhere.

Of course Acer wants me to fax them, pay them handsomely and then wait for what will probably be weeks until I (if ever) get the recovery CD in the mail.

There was also the possibility to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate, that has the MUI-option after installation, but Brasil IP-addresses are treated really badly by Microsofts servers. Brasil doesn't qualify.

I think both Acer and Microsoft customer service are really really bad. I paid for the Windows 7 license, and they want me to pay for the CD?

    Regards
    Anna

Microsoft has other language builds so as far as I know, you need the north American version of Windows 7. You are in a rare position that means you will have difficulty convincing someone to just send you a new, different version :(

I only discovered this myself as a Microsoft MVP and downloading the wrong versions a couple of time.

Yes ok, but I don't need a new Windows 7, I just need a "from scratch" recovery CD.

The recovery CD that I was able to create myself (after a lot of trial and error, translating norwegian on google translate) apparently erases absolutely everything, except some mysterious language key somewhere that says my PC is norwegian, now and forever. How can this be?

kingmansprodigy @ I have only approved your post because I am assuming that this offer is for a new unused retail version of Win7. You are running the risk of getting spam by posting your email address, so I am fixing it so bots won't steal it.
