I'm currently running Win7 Home Premium x64 and just realized that I don't access to Group Policy editing (no gpedit.msc). Not a big deal for most, but I'd like to have it. Other than that, what are the main differences between Home Premium and Professional? Is there a way to 'add' gpedit.msc to Home Premium? I usually perform a full format and OS re-install 2 or 3 times a year just to keep everything running perfectly smooth, and it's about that time, so I might just go to Win7 Pro X64....

Man, and here I thought that I was somewhat anal reformatting my rigs once a year.;) It has XP-mode(nothing too fantastic in Ult.), better networking and backup/restore to network as per this. Only you can decide if it's worth the extra bucks though being a power user...and I haven't heard of anything extra being offered to the lower tiers.

XP mode . . . . hmmmm . . . . didn't I install Win7 to get away from XP?!?!??!!!? LOL Better networking isn't a huge deal, at least not yet; backup/restore sounds OK, but I usually leave this up to 3rd party apps. Soooooo . . . . . I guess I don't really have a reason to go to the Pro version except for the Group Policy controls. Maybe there's a 'hack' that will allow me incorporate gpedit.msc in to my Home Premium install?
