I am a computer idiot so please bear with me.

I have a gateway zx6971 touchscreen computer with microsoft windows 7 home premiem installed. I ended up contracting a virus which I tried to fix myself.(Fail):-o
    Jacked my computer up royally.
I did a system restore to return the computer back to the factory state.

After doing the factory restore I went to download adobe CS6 Trial version
and when I went to extract the download I got an error saying the adobe installer is unable to extract the files (error 101).
I have plenty of hard drive and ram, and tried downloading several times, after reading for hours and hours I assume I have a permissions problem.
When I go to control panel then user accounts and family safety it only shows these two accounts... dub and guest, and it shows that dub has administrator privalleges.

But if I go to the start button and type in CMD and at the command prompt type "net user" it shows three different accounts.

And when I go to C: Users it shows that my dub folder has a lock by it... why does it have a lock if I am already the administrator?

I am so freaking lost. Please help me.

Sometimes you need to elevate permissions when using the command prompt. Good instructions are here:

    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/783-elevated-command-prompt.html

You can usually make the lock icon go away by taking ownership of the file or directory. Good instructions here:

Do NOT start taking ownership of everything you see with a lock icon. Particularly, do not take take ownership of C: in its entirety. Some of the system files need to be owned by Trusted Installer. Use this for your files, and stay away from the OS files with this.

NOTE: Ownership and Privileges are two separate things. If you need admin rights to do something, right click it Run as Admin.

Do you have the CS6 download on your disk? Is it a .7z file? If so, try downloading and installing 7-zip and use it to extract the installer files?

Thank you!:heart I now have access to the administrator account, although still can't figure out how to get this damn adobe cs6 master suite to download and extract itself. I was hoping by downloading it under the administrator account any permission problems I was having would be corrected, but to no avail.

Nope, I previously had cs2 installed but lost it when my computer took a dive, I have a project I need to finish but don't have the money to buy cs6 so I was just trying to download the trial product so I could finish this project.

I tried downloading the cs6 program directly using the link listed in that adobe article I referenced in my second post,(not using the adobe download assistant).http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs6-direct-download-links.html

and yes it was a .7z file and I downloaded 7zip but still was unable to get it to open, Im going to try a couple more times and hopefully I will be able to figure it out.:banghead

What exactly means "unable" - you're opening the downloaded .7z file with 7-zip, then what happens when you try to extract the installer content?
