Windows 7 HP Laptop error

Hi,
a colleague is getting an error on his 4 day old laptop.. PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED. Does anyone know what this might be or point me in the right direction.

 

I take it this is happening on boot.

I also read that someone found it was a RAM problem - can your friend take out one stick at a time and see if that helps?

Easy stuff first though - try removing the battery and the power cord, then hold the start button in for 30 seconds, then reconnect power and see if it boots.

 

Yep on boot, I did see that other thread but is was XP not windows 7... i will suggest what you have said below
