I am running windows 7 ultimate with AVG. Recently it came up with a virus or malware that has deleted some of the systems. I have noticed that windows media center and winzip had been deleted is there a way to find out what files are missing from my systems and to restore them. I don't even have a programs folder in my start menu. Thanks

I have attached a log from malwarebites anti-malware but I had this issue before I ran the program. I removed the files that had been quarantined.

If you have an installation disk for 32 bit Ultimate, run sfc /scannow. If it's not in your start menu, find cmd.exe (command prompt) in the C:\Windows\System32 folder. If it's in the start menu, it will be in Accessories. Wherever you find it, right click on it and choose "Run as Adminstrator".

You will need an installation disk for most of the repairs that it sounds like you need. There are other restore options, but I think you will have to restore your start menu icons for your programs by hand or by reinstalling the programs.

Do you have an installation disk for your version of Windows? I think malware removal removes restore points sometimes...not sure about that.

Well, MS has just I learned removed all traces of downloads for the Windows 7 .iso. Since it is not illegal to own a disk or the .iso and since this can still be found in some places, I am going to pass a link to you. I have downloaded the Windows XP SP3 .iso from this link, and it is clean and works, so this should be fine. It's for techs to be able to burn disks:

The username and password are on the password menu that will pop up. Use those, then follow the Ultimate link to the 32 bit version, and presto...win7 ultimate disk...

    No problem...

Just use the option to make a bootable disk in your burner. I think usually it's something like "Burn .iso to disk" or something like that. I am assuming that you may have lost the ability to use Windows 7 to burn...

Very happy to assist. Please post back if you have any difficulties with the disk.

Place the disk in the tray before you run sfc /scannow and then see if sfc will use the disk to attempt to make repairs. Even if it can use the disk, it may not be able to complete all repairs. No worries, though, the installation disk also gives you access to other repair options that can be attempted...

Windows 7 burns ISO files with no additional programs needed.
Just right click the ISO and select Burn disc image. That's it.
