    Hey guys,

Basically I went out and bought a PC and it was already loaded with Windows 7. Everything to this point was lovely, however then I went out and bought a headset with the intention of gaming occassionaly.

I plugged the headset in and straight away got sound through the headphones however I then tried to set my microphone up. I couldn't get it to recognise my microphone for squat, tried many different drivers and I've been on the same problem for around two days and I'm actually at the point where I'm pulling my hair out! My mobo is:

    " Intel Cortez D945GCZ "

If you need to know anything else please just let me know and I'll get it up on here soon as.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated guys!

    Many thanks, Matt.

    Hi

What make and model microphone/headset do you have?

One thing that can happen is that the mic setting can be set as mute, so check that it is not in start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound and check that the recording device which is your mic is not muted.

i too have the same issue, well at least very similar.

in the device manager all i see is two "high definition audio devices"
when i go into the sound control panel under the "recording" tab there is nothing listed.

this worked under XP and im pretty sure sure under vista too.

I assume you bought USB headphones
start>control panel>sounds> change the default device for both play back and recording by right clicking

I sorted my issues out. i had to load the drivers manually for them to work. not sure why the setup program failed. i acctually tried loading manually a few times and not sure why that didnt work or what i did differently for it to load.
