Recently got a new laptop with Windows 7 already on it (so i haven't installed over xp, vista etc) and having massive problems with burning a data cd.
Basically my problem is this, I choose the files to burn (all mp3 as the cd is for my car) in exactly the same way i've used Nero for years and it stops.
What makes it more annoying than anything is the fact that on this laptop with the same Nero on the same brand discs it's worked perfectly a few times (or everytime i've done it since having the laptop).

I've noticed that the folder all the music is in is marked as Read only, although it isn't ticked, it is shaded out... Now i'm not sure if it was like that when it worked before, just thought i'd mention it.

The log for Nero is attached.

Anyone got any suggestions for this one? cheers.

    P.s
I was originally using Nero 7 when this prob started, changed to Nero 9 to see if any different but was greeted me with the same problem. I tried shouting at it but much to my surprise it still didn't work.

    Hi

Just as you had the old Nero 7 on your PC first before updating to Nero 9, I would suggest doing these steps as it will get us to a basic default point where we know a few things are not going to cause issue, like components of the old Nero and a corrupted Upper Lower Filters in the registry.

But to get a sense of whats going on, in what folder in Windows 7 are your music files saved (full path please so C:\documents\myfiles or similar) or are these music files on a portable or network drive/PC?

First off uninstall Nero and you can use the Nero General CleanTool, to do this unzip and run the General Clean Tool.

Once finished run CCleaner and its cleaner and registry tool (run the registry one until no items are shown of removal) reboot to finish.

Then run the guide HERE to remove the upper and lower filters.

Now reinstall Nero 9 and this time right click the setupfile and choose Run as Administrator, then try a disk again.

*not a fan of Nero these days, find CDBurnerXP (works in Win7 x64) much better, so if Nero still not work, just as a test uninstall Nero again using the steps above and install CdburnerXP and try burning MP3s to CDAudio (just click Audio Disk on first menu that pops up when starting the app)
