I have a new laptop with windows 7. At home i operate a wireless network with static ip and no DHCP. I also go to QUT and use there public network, which, operates solely on DHCP. I currently use IP-Switcher to switch back between networks and that is fine, works perfectly. Problem is that, for some reason, my Router (at home) is picking up my computer's lease as using DHCP (when it does so, it kills my internet). This occurs pretty much everytime I restart my computer, even with the TCP/IP settings on my home networks version.

So, There is my predicament. Please, any assistance is Muchly appreciated.

I know this is probably not what you want to hear, but I would recommend re-enabling DHCP on your home network. There are very few security risks with doing this and it would make your life a lot easier.

    Hi DashUnderscoreDash,

Instead of using IP-Switcher, try this...

go to control panel/network and sharing center and click on the Change Adapter Settings link located at the top left.
right click on the wireless connection and select Properties from the menu.
click on the TCP/IPv4 entry and then click the Properties button.
    click the Alternate Configuration tab.
Change the radio button to User Configured.
    Enter your static IP address
    subnet mask
and ip address for the Default Gateway (which is the router ip address)
Ok out of the dialog windows.
    power down the laptop.
    Power up the laptop.

    Thankyou, dear lord, thankyou.

No pun intended, but, Techsent you are a god-sent.

I don't believe I didn't notice that tab before.... I guess I just had my blinkers on from my XP days. ;)

p.s. I'm not a religious fanatic, just thought I'd add that after re-reading what I posted.
