Windows 7 PC boots to my computer

My cousin called me and said his computer at the office is booting to the My Computer box, no desktop or anything. He removed a few toolbars and said he did a quick scan of malware and removed the 4 things it found and rebooted, since then it just goes to my computer.

I've never seen this happen before so I am not sure what to do here. System Restore was disabled so he cant go back a few days. He also ran another malware scan and found nothing. Any ideas?

 

Its the family owned marina, there is no IT. Sorry for not clarifying

 

If you can get physical access to the computer I have a test for yu to run:

Boot the computer and hold down CTRL & SHIFT on the keyboard and press ESC to open the task manager. Then go to the "processes" tab and look for an entry named "explorer.exe". Please post back and tell us if this is there or not.

 

I asked him to look and he says yes it is there. He says its located in C:\windows

 

1. What version of Windows are you running?

2. If you press the Windows key on the keyboard, does the start menu open?

3. Are there any buttons in the top right corner of the my computer window?

4. If 3 is true, can you close the window or move it using the top border?
