So i have got 2x2GB of Nanya RAM modules and want to increase performance because Firefox eats a lot of RAM. I know that buying 2 new 4GB Kingston modules would make sense, but i will need to disassemble laptop and put Nanya modules aside to collect dust on shelf. But i was thinking of saving and buying 8GB ReadyBoost flash memory SD or small USB thumbdrive.

It will be cheaper and will not cause hassle and besides, Nanya memory modules are OEM that came with laptop already.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong but flash memory is only like an 8GB usb storage stick?

This wont improve performance at all...

What laptop do you have? most memory can be accessed be undoing one or two screws and opening a panel on the bottom of the laptop.

Dell Latitude E6420. Flash drive is faster than hard drive for swap file, but indeed slower than RAM.

OK, not all tasks get transferred to pagefile though. You wont notice a performance benefit from this. Get RAM its dirt cheap these days (Prob less than an 8GB flash drive) and will give some benefit compared to flash

You obviously have a decent machine and no amount of hardware is going to help you. I could be running my 2K2 Celeron and it would still be a decent chip. Something else is wrong.

You mean bad memory allocation by Windows 7? Firefox bad memory allocation?

I guess Windows 7 and Firefox are biting more than they can and are after coming out with new versions to stay competitive with others?

Good point... Didnt even think that this PC should run FF without issue. Maybe try re-installing
