Does any body know some really good performance tweaks.

Right now i did some visual tweaks and it really is faster with out the eye candy look.

Any other tweaks that really works that will make every thing load alot faster.

The best "tweak" I ever made was to replace the HDD with an SSD.

First off i know SSDs are faster but and that is a but i do not want to spend over 100$ for one.

And a faster HD either it is a HDD or SSD it don't matter. You might get a slighter increase of speed but not buy much.72,000 RPM drive will last a lot longer then a SSD if taken care of correctly.I had an old HDD for 15 years and it gave out 2 years ago.

And i am talking about settings not Hardware.

Spoken like someone who has never really used an SSD.

The performance difference is night and day. It isn't just slightly faster. Longevity is an issue but nobody uses a hard drive for 15 years and asks about performance tweaks. Besides the mtbf on a mechanical hard disk is rated for about 3 years. An SSD can last as long. If you want a true performance tweak an SSD is the best one by far.

Heat is lowered, speed is increased and battery is saved. No software tweak will give you any real improvement in Windows 7 compared to an SSD.

69.99 and more than big enough for your OS. Put your apps on a second drive. Best of both worlds.

    Back on software tweaks topic.

I recommend you leave the services as they are. Keep startup items to a minimum and that should keep your running well enough. If your UI is lagging, considering turning off visual options under Performance settings.

    I agree with Adrynalyne.
SSDs are the only way to go.

Here's a larger one that will allow you to put your OS and programs on and keep it at lower than 60% full for optimum efficiency.

You will have to spend in order to get good results.
