Windows 7 permissions, etc.

I recently bought a computer with Windows 7, old computer motherboard died (6 years old) after having happily lived with Win XP. I am totally fed up with how it handles my documents (e.g. MS Word).

1- I changed a document and it states the document is read only. I changed the status and it still gives me the same message after redoing the document.

2- Then when I try to save it with a different name, it states that I do not have permission to this. It states that do I want to save it to 'My Documents', I check yes. Then when I look for document it is nowhere to be found.

Is there any way to change this system to where I have control and not Microsoft. My next computer will probably be a Mac.

Can I shut all this crap off.

 

Win7 like it's predecessor Vista has a hidden admin account, change this so that you are administrator and this will help you :

Type secpol.msc in the search bar above start buttton and hit enter. After the Local Security Policy pops up, navigate to Local Policies-> Security Options where you can see an entry that reads Accounts: Administrator account. Double click the entry to enable it.

This then gives you full admin rights !

 

Try taking ownership of the files copied from your old PC (I assume these are the files you get this problem with).

If they're all in one folder, right-click the folder > Properties > Security tab > Advanced > Owner > Edit. Click on your account name, check "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects" Then OK your way back out.

 

Ignoring it made no difference. I also unchecked it and it made no difference. I disabled UAC and it was okay. I also download a file called Take control and I could finally delete Windows Defender.
