Windows 7 Starter Upgrade

ive bought a good used notepad.
Median E1222 which has windows 7 starter installed. I removed some rubbish from it but sure it's still slower that it should be.
I'm thinking of either wiping it or putting say Windows 7 home or pro on it.

Can you advise please where I need to check to see if the spec of it etc will be ok to upgrade.

Unless the RAM has already been upgraded you will need to up it to at least 2GB, preferably 4GB. We run an older Medion here with 4GB and it ran 7, and now 10 just fine.

Ive run the toll and see green ticks all over so sounds good.

It shown under details that i can upgrade to 32 bit Win 7 Home,Pro or Ultimate.

As i dont have the disc can i download Win 7 pro from somewhere and put on a usb stick of which i will put in notepad or even try to download straight to notepad.

Then can i purchase the license and enter it on my notepad for it to activate ?

Yes, that should do fine. Download the preferred Win 7 32 bit installation file using THIS. With 32 bit your 2GB RAM may be sufficient but 4GB would make a big difference.

I did look for more ram but 2gb seems to be the largest available.

The max Ram this notepad can have is 2Gb so to help the situation i assume its ok then to download the N version which has Media items removed from it.
Would that be correct.

Well you want the Windows 7 HOME N ('Home Basic') as an upgrade from 7 starter. That will exclude WMP.

 

Needs to be pro as i purchased a license for pro.
Currently the download tool isnt working.

 

Pro requires more RAM. But if it was the thing you paid £2.50 for, then just get Home Basic. Running Pro version of any Windows will be awful on that hardware.
