Windows 7 startup sound

How do you change the Windows 7 startup sound?

Read many solutions on the Web but is there a relatively easy safe way to
change the startlup sound?

The solutions don't seem to work.

 

From the quick research I've done, it looks like you'll have to use the program "Resource Hacker" to modify a DLL system file. For some reason, the startup sound isn't the same as the other Windows sounds that can be easily changed.... I found this how-to guide; it was written for Vista but it still applies to Win7 (at least it should - it's not my fault if it doesn't work and trashes your OS :innocent ). Read all the comments at that link for some VERY helpful tips.... good luck!

(back when I was still running WinXP, I used Resource Hacker to completely change my Start button - it was fun, and MUCH easier than I thought it would be!)

Yea, I went through the web stuff and came across exactly what you found in addition to other esoteric attempts.

But there still, somewhere out there, be an easy or somewhat easy was to change the startup sound in Win 7.

Thanks for the elaborate fix. But not worth the time and effort just to get a sound to start up that I like.
