    Platform: ASUS laptop K52F

Intermittently the mouse works strangely. Normally a file / folder / shortcut on the desktop can be moved by left clicking and dragging the item. But sometimes a single left click opens the item and I am not able to drag it. I might have to try several times left clicking on the item before I can drag it. And sometimes when I try to drag the item around the desktop the item may move an inch or two then stop - won't move any further. Then I need to left click on the item again to get it to move.

    I have tried the following:
    - latest Microsoft updates installed
    - no updates to mouse drivers
    - scanned the laptop with TDSSKiller, IoBit, AdwCleaner, Avira, Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware with nothing found

I routinely use CCleaner & Wipe to remove browser garbage.

Any suggestions of what I can do?

Try another mouse and see if the same issues occur.

I don't have access to another mouse right now.
BUT, I have noticed one other aspect of this behavior. I have two accounts on the laptop:
    Administrator & Standard User
The 'strange behavior' only occurs with the Standard User account and not with the Administrator account.
    Does this make any sense?

You could try creating another user account and see if the problems continue.

Created a new account and the problem did not appear in this account. So transferred everything from the old to the new account, & deleted the old account.
Is a problem like this typically located in the registry?
    Thanks for the help!!!!

First time I have encountered this problem. Good to know you got it working.

Final comment..... The new account did not solve the problem. Eventually the mouse was back to working in an inconsistent manner. What did solve the problem is trying another Logitech 'Unifying Receiver'. That did it!!

I run into this when the batteries start to drain with wireless mice here. First few times the problem consistently fooled me into believing there could be something else going on, because the mouse seemed to be working normally otherwise (on and blinking normally). Anyway changing the batteries has always worked for me...
