I'm having a issue where when I load up Task manager because I need to use it to manually close a program the process list won't stop scrolling back to the top of the list all the time. Is there a way to get it to stay put long enough that I can actually close the program I need to close,as right now it's impossible to work with?

If the Process doesn't show in the Applications tab, list the Processes by name, or memory, etc. by clicking on the column header.

It probably keeps rearranging by CPU usage; that's why it jumps around.
Click on the heading Image Name and the programs will not move around.

Hmm, if you like, one can try Process Explorer from SysInternals. Easier to use and by default processes do not run away like Speedy Gonzales. I use this a lot as part of malware analysis, never let me down.

Just tried sorting it by image name. as fast as I scroll down the list,it scrolls back to the top equally quickly, and it's not just that either. For example I have extreme trouble getting such things as drop-down menu to stay open enough to be useable and when I try to adjust my audio settings for such things as YouTube unless they are at full, all the time it auto-adjusts them back to full. Same goes for my personal headset settings. This only started happening in the last few days, before that it worked just fine.

Seems like you have a few problems not just the task manager.

What Windows updates were done in the last few days? Did you install any new programs?

I'd start by removing recent Windows updates. Then reboot.
    Any better?

If not, use a restore point and reboot. Any better?
