    Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago, I started experiencing a Black Screen of Death after my computer receives an update from Microsoft. When the computer boots up, it starts like normal then goes to a black screen. I see my mouse arrow and it moves when I move my mouse, but nothing else. No desktop, no icons, no login screen where I type my password in.

In order to boot up, I have to force shut down my computer and then boot into Safe Mode and do a system restore.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate - 32 bit version.

I have disabled auto update and auto install. Checking the install status history I have found this

However, when I look it says that these two updates were installed successfully on 1/14/2011.

    Thoughts?

It is possible that you have a Virus, I think your best option is to reinstall your OS with the disc, there is also a Recovery Console, but when you do this it should only reinstall the OS and not delete your files.
