OK here we go again. Same problem I last week with a computer but different computer and different OS.

I have a HP G72 running Windows 7. Will not boot, Will not go into restore using F11 or anything else. I tried Safemode but it freezes B4 it completely boots. Sooooooooo...........

I piggy-Backed to my desk-top computer. Does not recognize it for about 5 minutes then it pops-up.

I wanted to run a CKDSK but it wouldn't let me. It would freeze on "Right-Click". I opened Partition Wizard 7 and found 4 partitions (see Attached) I ran a CKDSK on everything but "K". On "K" I got an error message saying that I didn't have enough space to fix Usn Journal $J System. I DO have 6gb free on my desktop and 229GB on the drive I am trying to fix. I assume its the space on my Desktop that is lite since that is the one that is doing the fixin'. 6GB isn't enough? or is there another problem>?

I also ran Malewarebytes and it froze 2wice at 2 minutes even.

PS when I hit F11 on start-up I got a blank windows screen. I left it for 30 minutes and still nothing. I did Ctrl+alt+del to see if anything would pop-up and NO.

I have a windows 7 Repair disk from another computer thinking it might get me into Restore Mode and Nope.... same blank screen.

I also have a LOT of suspicious files on the drive with a bunch of random numbers and letters that don't make much sense including a dozen or so in the recycle bin that end in "Desktop.ini See attached.
Any advice would be much appreciated (as usual)
    SOoooooooo Whats my next move?

Using partition wizard, mark the recovery partition as active, making sure the system partition is marked inactive and then try booting the hard drive in the HP G72 computer. The factory reset manager may boot.

I won't recognize the drive at all anymore. Is there a way for Partition mgr to find it?

I happened to have another drive here, its a little "Clicky" and I use it for an emergency ONLY. I thru it in the G72 and it is being restored by an "Acer Aspire Restore disk. I just thru it in for the heck of it and it is restoring.
IT WOULD NOT restore the original HP drive. It said "Drive not found".
DO I assume thet the HP drive is Corrupt?
I tried to run WD Lifeguard Tools that would tell me everything about the drive but it will not show itself. I think it may be "Toast" you tell me.

PS it does not up in My Computer, Disk Management, Partition Mgr, Device Mgr, I hit Esc when starting (boot menu) and it was not there. Right click on start----> explore No Go.

It sounds like it is definitely in bad shape. I was thinking it was a corrupt USN file but the other choice was bad HD. That the HD doesn't show in BIOS "Drive not Found" seems to point to a failing HD or bad sectors at the critical start of the drive.

If it doesn't show in the HP at all, then there is not much you can do. Sometimes letting a drive cool down will let it be recognized a little later. I'd give it a time out, disconnected from power connector.

Then try running the CD version of the WD diagnostic with the HD in the HP computer and hope it is recognized. Booting a few times in a row can't hurt to see if you get lucky and it is recognized. If it is recognized be sure to run both the Short and Extended tests. The extended test will try to repair errors. I've had very good luck with the WD diagnostic repairing a drive.
