I came in from work and started to use Windows. The system was working fine then I went to play a video on Funnyjunk using Chrome and it wouldn't play it would just load infinitly. I figured it was a FJ issue so I went back to Firefox to play some vids in YouTube. Same issue. So I closed both browsers and attempted to play videos, no go. Frustrated at this point I attempted to play a song using VLC player same issue. So I restarted windows itself. System was fine for about 20 minutes and then the issue came back. So I ran sfc /verifyonly to see if windows was detecting issues with system files all files came back fine with no issue. I tried to unistall Java, now I can't get it to reinstall. I attempted to play a game just now but it never finished loading but the screen did transition to black. This issue started today, yesterday the system was fine. I don't know whats going on but it's gonna be super annoying if I have to restart Windows everytime I want to listen to music, video, or play a game.

Oddly enough Discord works fine as long as I don't attempt to voice chat, I can load webpages and navigate the web just fine. Windows itself is still responsive though a slight bit slow when doing certain things. It's like something in Windows that controls multimedia just broke.

First, a computer does not need Java. I have never had Java installed on any of out 4 Windows computers and don't have the problems that you are experiencing.

Is this the site you are referring to? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNHX4r_WSBZKYpAN7GsBYkQ
I started playing a video there with no issues. My browser is Palemoon; it is based on an older version of FF.

Open Task Manager after you have trouble loading any video. What 3 processes are using the most CPUs? It almost sounds like something in the background is using all the resources so you don't have enough to play audio and video.

I think the issue is Avast because I can no longer access the internet on my PC at home it started yesterday as stated before. I have whittled the list of suspects down and Avast and Comodo are fast becoming the only ones left. I also have another issue I tried to rollback Crypto Prevent's changes and it failed to do so and I don't even know if I can uninstall Avast until that is rolled back. I admit Crypto Prevent is an old version I honestly forgot I even had it and I am especially worried because I did a system restore recently to troubleshoot a sound driver issue and I didn't know you had to reset CP before doing so. I hope I'm not screwed.

I know it's something in normal mode because if I do safe mode with network the internet works fine and firefox (the other aspect of the issue) loads and runs perfect too. I didn't test YouTube but I am pretty sure in safe mode it works. This again leads me to believe it's Comodo or Avast because neither programs services run in safe mode, at least not that I saw. And I can't kill the Avast Service service so I can only attempt to uninstall it preferably in safe mode.

At first I thought it was Corsair's iCUE driver but when I noticed the issue continued and worsened after I uninstalled it I ruled it out. I even tried disabling Avast's real time shields along with Comodo's but my gut is telling me Avast is the culprit. How should I proceed from here?

I ran sfc and Windows files are healthy from what it told me. The system isn't freezing or crashing so thank goddess for that.

What I plan to do when I get home is take a screenshot of all running services in normal mode via Lightshot and then compare it to the active services in safe mode and try to see what might be doing it.

In reference to the CPU question when I was able to get into the browsers it ping ponged between Firefox, Chrome, Discord, Steam, and a few others. I don't think it's a resource issue all of these program have been running for years together and I never had this issue.

Ok I think I found out the cause. Indeed my gut instinct was correct I uninstalled Avast and Firefox began to load it's UI again and I could actually get into it but I still had no internet. I made a second Hail Mary pass and uninstalled Comodo Firewall and both programs auxillary services and my internet came back and I dare say it's faster then before it went down.
