Can anyone tell me what is the best Windows 7 repair tool?

I'm looking for something that will repair missing .dll's.

It also needs to be a one-click repair due to my computer skills.

    Thanks in advance....

Do you have the Windows 7 disc?

If you could list the .dll names it would help.

You can't repair something that is missing.

Please explain how you know a dll is missing. Name of program, error message, etc.

Yes, I have the Windows 7 CD in hand. As far as the .dll that is missing, I'll have to post that later. It only shows up when I log in to my account. I believe is is lib(something).dll.

We've yet to discover whether it's W7 or a 3rd party program tripping up.

Ok, the name of the missing .dll is ....libcurl.dll. It happens every time I log off, and then when I log back in the alert box pops up stating that the libcurl.dll is missing.

I can't really say if a program is making that alert.

You need to track down the application that uses it via Windows Management, right-click your My Computer icon and select 'Manage' then drill down to the location pictured - it should be an 'Error' and the lower pane (not shown here) will give details - copy/paste the details for us, please.

It should specify 'libcurl.dll', check all entries around the time of your last startup, Task Managers Performance tab will show you the uptime, work back from there, check all logs/all Event Viewer sections from around that time.

If you're not comfortable working through the logs, run What'sInStartup and report what programs are listed there. A screenshot would be helpful.

I downloaded the What'sInStartup app from this site. I extracted the files. I placed the What'sInStartup.exe file in the C drive of my computer. I double-clicked the file and got a message that I don't have permission to run this file. I right-clicked the file and chose "Run as Administrator." I got the same error message that I don't have permission to run this app.

So, am I placing the .exe file in the correct place? If I am then how do I get around the permissions problem?

Extract the files to your Desktop - it's your Desktop - you're the boss there ;)

I second the Holy Crap!! 40 items in startup is insane.
Eldon has 5 items and I have 4 items.

Good luck satrow cleaning up the sludge!

Like Eldon, I've got 5x startups as well; 3 on my Xeon and 2 on an i3 :)

Don't have experience of most of those, about all I can say is that the software you're looking to investigate/remove/reinstall uses libcurl.dll to download and/or upload, that might help to narrow it down.
