Hello again, this is such a great site and thanks to everyone that has reply to my questions, I have another one I hope you can help me with. I have brand-new Dell desktop which is running Windows 8.1 64 bit. Here is the problem that I am having which is with my desktop icons...any icon shortcuts that go onto the desktop or even some of my notepad icons that I keep there and a few folders .... I cannot double-click on them to get them to open, I have to opposite click and then go to Open and it works that way. I looked at my mouse settings but I didn't find any help there, what am I doing wrong or what do I have to adjust to fix this?

    Thank you :)

sorry for any typing errors.. I am disabled and use the Dragon speech software which kind of acts crazy sometimes :-D

Did you adjust (lower) the Double-click speed? And remember to click Apply and then OK.
You can also set the mouse to open an item with 1 click. Open Control Panel, Folder Options, and click the radio button next to 'Single click to open an item (point to select)'. Click Apply, then OK.
