Windows 8.1 stuck while booting up.

I use an HP AMD A6-4400M APU laptop that now runs on Windows 8.1, with 8 GB, and a 64-bit OS with an x64-based processor.

I just had an issue with taken care of on this thing with a proxy server error a couple of weeks back. Now the first time the computer does an auto-update since before powering down, the machine has decided to lock me out from getting to the start screen.

All I get is the black screen with the HP logo on it while a white circle is spinning non-stop under it. It usually takes ten to fifteen seconds for it to get past that and to the start screen. I've been watching it stuck doing nothing for ten to fifteen minutes instead.

I had a similar problem that forced me to use System Restore with 8.0 about four months ago, except in that case, it was a black screen past the start screen. At this point, I can't even get to that. What can I do to fix this mess?

 

Tried tapping F8 at boot time and choosing safe mode with command prompt?
If successful type in
net user administrator /active:yes
Then press enter and reboot. Administrator account should give you access. Tried this recently when user profile could not be loaded, then replaced user profile in Windows with the back up and got back into the original user account.
net user administrator /active:no
will disable the Administrator account again.

 

I got back in normally the next time I booted. Maybe it was doing an update that was taking forever. I just get very nervous about this machine lately with all the issues it's been trying to give me the last few months.
