Windows 8 install issue

greetings ... I have a Gateway desktop that I upgraded from win7 to win8 and for a year or so everything worked great until a cpl of weeks ago and windows would not boot ...I have tried system restore and did not work ...I tried to reinstall windows from the CD and ISO file and fails every time ... gets past Serial number install but when you get to the selection of which drive to use will fail after just a few minutes or even an hour .....

I have used the procedure below and still have the same issue ...

I have used this OS on a flash drive to check the HD (checks ok) and also install Win8 from with same results ...

Could there be a HD issue even though it test ok ? I am open to suggestions ...... thanks ....otf

 

update ....tried new HD today and seems was the problem ....so much for passing the test ....... ... OTF
