Hello everyone, my first post so please be gentle.

    I have a Toshiba Satallite C50t-A-10T running windows 8.

My Colleague has managed to get it to a state where it will not boot up.
He was trying to wipe it.
    Message says: No bootable device

He also did not make a recovery disc when first given the PC.

Is there anyway I can recover this machine?

    Thanks

Have you tried a System Restore?

Hi...you should be able to order recovery disks from Toshiba: https://support.toshiba.com/repair

See if it gives you that option by entering your serial number in the Get Recovery Media field.

You did not say if this is a under warranty laptop. Is so start there.

If what LauraR suggested does not work out for you then you could try to get to System Restore at Boot by using F12 and following this tutorial found on the Toshiba site for Win8:

    http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-To-Understanding-System-Restore-Refresh-Reset-and-Recovery/ta-p/342690

There is a video link for YouTube which explains things there you might want to watch also.
If you are not comfortable trying this then there are people here at MG with more knowledge about Win8 who will reply soon I'm sure. Good luck.

    Did you follow these steps?

To access the System Restore, Refresh and Reset options using the F12 option at startup, perform the following.

If not already, ensure the computer is completely shut down.
Now restart the computer by pressing the power button - IMMEDIATELY start tapping the F12 key on the keyboard until the "Boot Menu" screen appears.
Using the arrow keys, select <HDD Recovery> and press "Enter".
On the next screen you are asked to confirm if you want to continue with recovery. Select "Yes".
The computer will bring you to the Advanced startup screen.
Select Troubleshoot. Under Troubleshoot you will see “Refresh” and “Reset”.
Select “Advanced options.” Located here is "System Restore."

If you followed these steps and did not fine System Restore I am not sure what you can try next. Maybe someone else here can help you. Sorry!

It won't restore, no option in F12 or "0" and power switch. I am going down the warranty option.
