    Hi

This is my first post so please be gentle.

I am currently unable to get into my administrator account due to forgetting my password.
I am running Windows 8 on a Samsung ATIV Book 9.
I’ve tried 5 methods all in all and every one of them has failed.

The first was to try pressing F8 to get into safe mode but I was unable to do this. The F8 key doesn’t do anything at all despite being told in the guide that this works.
The second was to use the reset password bootable software that you can create in Windows. This without success.
Thirdly I tried Ophcrack. This also failed to crack the password.
Fourthly I tried a few free trial versions of commercially available software but they just force you to buy the full price versions to be able to reset the password.
The fifth method I tried was to press Shift+restart which is supposed to allow you access to the command prompt. All that happened to me was it asked for the admin password to continue on to this.
I would appreciate any help regarding this issue as I have come up short with all my attempts to reset the password. Thanks in advance.

    Regards

    Sean

    Thank you for your reply.
I couldn’t get to the boot up stage with this unfortunately so could not establish whether or not it would work.
Lifewire is a very helpful site but,on this occasion, after following the download instructions, to mount the ISO, I couldn’t get any further. Are there any other methods to try? Thanks

    Sean

    You're welcome.
I've used this application and don't recall any instructions "to mount" the .iso., you burn it to disc after extracting it from the zipped archive. Please explain......

    Hi Dr. Moriarty,
Sorry, I might not be explaining it as well as I should. I used Rufus to make the ISO bootable on a flash drive. This is as far as I got as it didn’t work when I booted the laptop via the flash drive. I didn’t get the chance to see if it would work properly.

I understand now, Sean. BTW - I regularly use UNetbootin 6.57 for making a bootable USB stix.

*Lots of tools & tricks to try are coming in.
