Windows 8 refresh - now cannot activate

I am having the same problems as the OP. Had to refresh Windows 8.1 on my Toshiba Satellite C55, and now Windows is not activated. When I try to activate it online, it tells me there was an error and to try again later. The option to call to activate is not given. I'm getting the exact same error messages that were described in the last two posts when I try to run slui and when I try to start Software Licensing in the services box.

Windows tech support suggested there might be a corrupted system file or something in the registry that is causing the error and preventing me from activating Windows. Any suggestions on what I could try next?

Moved to original thread as they tend to get more views than older threads as older ones folk look over as there are multiple posts so they think its solved.

Is there an error code or message and if so what is the message/code?

I know that in some instances when updating from say Window s8.0 to 8.1 the refresh option is nullified, so does not work correctly on OEM PC's so you will likely need to speak to Toshiba support to activate.

Was your Toshiba originally Windows 8.1 or was it another Windows version updated to Windows 8.1 and if so what Windows version?

You could with the activation key that should be on your PC somewhere in a sticker, use this and use Windows search and paste in Slui.exe 0x3 then type the activation key from your PCs sticker and see if that works.
