Nevermind.... I figured it out.... you have to download and run the Preview Setup File and it provides a product key....
    :-o

(thanks tgell but I think posting product keys is against the rules... and I wasn't asking for a key, I was asking how to obtain a legal legit key from Microsoft even though I didn't really clarify that, but thanks anyway ;) )

It's all good - I ran the Preview Setup File twice and got two different keys....

Anyway, I now have Win8 installed, and it's a bit strange rolleyes no start button, no "Run" bar or command (that I've been able to find yet), the control panel took me a bit of time and some Googling to locate... it seems that Win8 is aimed more at touchscreen devices/PCs and more at the "less-than-savvy" or "just-above-noob" market and MS is keeping a lot of features kind of hidden or obfuscated, these are features that we MG-types use on a regular basis. It was that you could use the "Run" command via the Task Mgr, not anymore, the Task Mgr has also been re-worked.... jeeeez, looks like a new learning curve even for those of us VERY familiar w/ the workings of WinXP thru Win7...
    :banghead

EDIT - I just found the Start button!!! If you move the mouse pointer to where the start button normally is (the bottom left corner), and then try to run the pointer off the screen with a downward/left motion, a Start button prompt appears!!! WOW!!! I feel so proud of myself!!!! It does not bring up a start menu like we're used to in WinXP thru Win7; it simply displays the same screen you see when the PC first boots, but it's something, but still no "Run" option anywhere....

@dlb, can you see this software being deployed across an enterprise? I read that in order to install a desktop app, not a metro app, you will have to go through the Microsoft store. Microsoft will take a cut from the developer for every download.

Jeez - the more I'm using this Win8, the more I'm starting to not like it.... where the heck are the "shut down" and "restart" buttons?

@ TimW - thanks for the link - I agree w/ A LOT of what is said there.... Win8 is (so far) just cumbersome, not user friendly, and simply hard to use and navigate... it might be OK for people just starting to use a PC and have a touch screen and really don't know what to expect or what a PC is capable of, but for us MG'ers, Win8 simply blows (so far). It took me 5 minutes to figure out how to open the freekin device manager!!!!
