Windows 95

K im just a 7 grade kid so im not that good with da puters.

Anyone know if it's possible to change the opperating sistem on one of those 95s (Im not sure wat the cpu is, i just know it's old)

 

Your best best might be to buy a new pc althogether, as since your running a pc that has Win95 on it, best bets are that you wont be able to run XP on it. But I'm not 100% sure, we'll need your pc specs first.

 

First or second post startup will tell what processor is being run.
Or right click "My Computer" them "Properties" and in the first window should also post the processor type.

But almost any hardware that will run Windows 95 will run Windows 98 and 98SE.

Minimum system requirements for Windows 98SE:
66MHz 486DX computer, with 16MB of memory
VGA monitor
Mouse or compatible pointing device
Keyboard
Floppy disk drive or CD-ROM drive

Realistically...
Your best served to run at least 32MB of memory and at least a 512MB hard drive.
And it has no upper limit that I know of so it will run on a modern machine as well.

Welcome to Major Geeks. I am not sure if EVEREST latest version works on W95.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html will tell you all the hardware and software installed on your PC.

It is 4 megs in size and says it will run on " Windows all"
I don't know if that applies back to W95 though.

Post your specs back here and someone will advise you if W98SE will run on your PC.
Go to W98SE rather than W98, if you can. Bazza
