Windows 98 enters Safe Mode automatically

OK, I realise that I shouldn't even be using Windows 98 anymore and I'll probably go to hell where I'll suffer a fiery torment for all eternity. However, looking past the obvious...

I have a Windows 98 machine that enters safe mode automatically on start up. I've no idea why, it was running fine up till now. Can anyone suggest how I determine why it's entering safe mode automatically? Once I determne that, I can start tackling the problem.

go to run type msconfig and make sure diagnostic startup isnt checked
