windows aero not on windows update

Windows Aero is built in and not an upgrade or update, it is set from Preferences so long as your Graphic Card is Aero compatible, so to set and check,


Right click the desktop and choose Personalize > Windows Color and Appearence > click the Open Classic Appearance Properties for more options link and choose from tthe list under Color Schemes ~ Windows Aero > Apply.

Also if you are just using the standard graphic driver that Vista loaded on install then you will need to update the graphics driver for your card to likely enable the Aero functions, if a laptop then some Intel onboard graphics cards are not Aero compatible,

But if your folders edges and the taskbar is a glass like appearence as in the picture below then you have Aero enabled, note the red circled area is glass in appearence and you can see through to my desktop image.

I didnt get that impression from your original post.. sorry, if you were looking for aero on windows update, so without all the info to what you had tried to enable aero I will always try adn cover all bases, in case one was forgotten.

I did give you other options, what is graphic card make and model, have you updated the driver for the graphic card as the default winodws ones dont always enable aero as an option in appearence settings.

If certain Intel and other onboard graphics for laptop/desktops then some are not WDDM capable and wont run aero.
