Windows Calendar very slow

I've solved mist of the big problems I had posted about earlier but have some minor ones left. I am used a Dell Inspiron 1501 with Windows Vista.

Before the computer crashed my Windows calendar worked almost instantly, i.e. double click and in a few seconds the calendar appeared. Since the reinstallation by Dell a few weeks ago, it can take 30 seconds to a minute to appear on the screen. I have the same problem with Apache Open Office Writer taking a very long time.

Any suggestions about how to fix this?
