"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

I am running Windows 7 Beta Build 7077, I completely lost access to my C drive. I've tried right clicking on it and going to properties, but there is no security tab. I'm not sure how to access Windows components as far I can tell. I also cannot create another user account and looks like system restore has been disabled. Does anyone know how to correct this? Please and Thank you in advance.

Bud, I've used it on my systems for the past year and haven't had any issues.

Dude he said he had WINDOWS 7, it is for Vista and Windows 7, I wouldn't have put it up if it wasn't. Plus, the I'm sure that he knows how to use a zip file, just by what he's said you can tell that hes not stupid.

    Hi

See if you can get access from Safe Mode (F8 at boot) to the drive or to add permissions, also are you dual booting?

Was this a clean install or upgrade from Vista, XP?

Personally I would install the Official Release candidate build 7100 the interim builds do have some glithces as they where not final versions but to test specific issues.

Hi, sorry I've been work on other problem on my laptop. I've graded from Windows Vista Black 2009 (32bit). I'm copying the two files listed in the second post to my iPod and going to see if I can run them on the other computer. I cannot access anything in Safe Mode either. That was actually one of the first things I've tried. If this doesn't work I'm just going install my 7100 version beta of Windows 7. Wish me luck, please.

So I cannot reinstall Windows via Upgrade or F8 at startup, new installation. Upgrade pulls up that same "Windows cannot access...." message. F8 at startup, fresh install says I cannot install windows on this drive because it not an NTFS partition, it was. I can't access disk management to make changes. And I cannot use that take ownership reg or use that unlocker application without getting that same error message. Anyone still have any ideas?

Just my laptop, but it only has a eSata port. So I am going to take the HDD out and plug it in my friend's computer this weekend and see if I can delete Windows and everything I don't need in Program Folders and Document & Settings. Then I will see if I can reinstall Windows and hope it works normally again.

    My point exactly.

As I have said earlier, it is obvious you know what you are doing if you play with Beta OS's ... I trust you know how to properly format ... prepare ... reinstall etc.

Yes I do, but that is a last resort, I still have 98GB's of data on this HDD that I don't want to lose.
